Life Before Kids...

(Ok so I decided it wasn't good that I had "Gangstas Paradise" stuck in my head all day, so I changed my playlist back... sorry if you missed the memory lane one... it would've taken you back a few years. :)
.
Last night Jez and I stayed up (a little too late) watching Step Up 2: In the Streets. It prompted a trip down memory lane. Most of you didn't know me back in High School, but I used to be a dancer and I loved street dancing and hip hop. (I know it's crazy) So I was looking at some of my old pictures today. I don't miss being young and irresposible, but it is fun to remember that part of me.

I was thinking about all the music I used to listen to and it is such a random mix. I'm sure most of you remember these...

Dance Music
Heavy D and the Boyz (Now that we found love), Salt n' Pepper, TLC, Snap (Rythym is a Dancer is one of my favs), C+C Music Factory, Wreckx-n-effect (Rumpshaker), The Real McCoy, House of Pain, Will Smith, Tag Team , and lots of others that I don't know the name/artist
Random High School Music -
I know some of these are older, but they had their comeback when I was in school: Jewel, Billie Myers, Meat Loaf, REM,U2, Bon Jovi, Smashing Pumpkins, Guns n' Roses, Depeche Mode, Scorpions, Seal and lots and lots of others - there was a lot of music in the 90's
Hanging out with friends
Live, Metallica (Jez & I even went to the concert), Bone Thugs n' Harmony and lots of other really inappropriate music...

OK - So here's some of my pictures from
back then (Junior & Senior in H.S.)...
Junior Year
Spring Break - Lake Havasu, AZ

MGM Theme Park - Vegas
(Notice the lovely tiny braids...)
Janiel was my best friend in H.S.
This was summer break the year
I turned 16 (between Junior & Senior Year)

Hard Rock - Vegas

Excalibur - Vegas

Laughlin, NV
(Yes we hung out in casinos when we were 16)

Driving through the desert.
In this picture we are in Janiel's Honda
In high school I had a black Probe (see top pic)
and Dodge Daytona. Janiel had a
red Mustang, navy Honda Prelude, and
dark green Mitsubishi Eclipse.
All were 2 door sports cars with sunroofs.
We thought we were pretty cool back then. ;)

Early Morning - Spring Break - AZ

Janiel at Sigfreid & Roy's - Vegas
Me & Janiel
at Toby Keith/Tracy Lawrence Concert
SLC Summer I turned 16
I was on the Utah Dance Team for the Down Under Bowl. 2 Weeks before we left we found out the Cheer Team out of SLC backed out so we got to dance and cheer. :) We spent 2 weeks in Sydney, Australia and a couple days in Honolulu, Hawaii. There was a Utah Dance team and Football team, and we went with the Texas Cheer and Football teams. We performed at the league games between Utah/Texas, in a parade, at the league games between Sydney/Utah and at an Australian Rugby league game. We were on the news and in the local papers. It was really a great experience. I had a lot of fun and made a lot of new friends.

Utah Girls at LAX
Texan Football Players
Some of the Utah Boys Texas Cheerleaders
"Ice Cream Boy" - This is one of the only pictures I have
of our dance costumes. We were getting ice cream on
the beach. It is gorgeous there!
Rugby game

Australian Reptile Park

View of Waikiki Beach from Hotel Room Saying good-bye to some Texans at LAX
Chicago O'hare Airport
I went on a business trip with my mom.
I met Jez just before this trip.
Jez with long hair!!
He usually wore it in a ponytail... haha.
Love you sweetie.

Janiel & I's apartment in Scottsdale, AZ.
(I had just turned 18 when we moved in-
Jez was there visiting with Janiel's boyfriend)
It cracks me up to see these. It seems like such a long time ago. I'm sure my parents will cringe at the memories. But we all turned out OK in the end. :)

I have lots of other pictures of when we were dating, but I don't know where they are. We are very different people than we were back then.

What do you remember about your younger years??
I think everyone should do a memory lane post with pictures. :)
I love to see where people come from.

I loved the walk down memory lane. I remember being able to go inside a grocery store, and it would only take 2 minutes to get what I needed instead of the 20 it now takes. I loved the pictures, I didn't think I could ever picture Jez with long hair, now I will never forget!:) I love all the pictures. Its fun to see what people looked like before you met them!

I tried to find Kris Kross forever! You lucky chick!
Love the music and all of the dance pictures! Also, Derek and Jez had the same hair style, hahahahah! I made him cut it right after we got married (he was stuck)!

I remember having ZERO responsibility ! Playing all day and night...life changes fast but I would not trade it for anything!

Oh, this was TOO fun! I loved seeing these pictures of ya'll. I did have to laugh at the one where you're wearing sandals with socks...you are so Utah! He he

Shauntae that is hilarious because I almost posted that in the caption... then I thought "nope I'm going to hope she doesn't notice..." hehe. Did you notice the electric lolli-pop swirler in the door handle???
Jenny... I was partially inspired by your Ice, Ice, Baby. :) I wouldn't change having kids for anything either. I'm glad I grew up. :)
Jessica I think everyone should post pictures from their high school years. It would be fun to see where everyone comes from. :)

Now that's entertainment! Loved the post. I recently had a little trip down memory lane myself. You guys are the greatest. We miss you.

Holy manoley! That is awesome! My life before kids...? I should make a post sometime, too. Mostly I remember that I was a lot of fun! Hee hee hee!

Jim... we miss you guys too. I hear rumors of your stories, but it is still hard to believe. When I ask Trinette she just says you were a really nice guy. Mary Nolan on the other hand said she had stories... but never told. :) It's one of those things where you would never go back to the lifestyle, but it is part of who you are.
Camille you are too cute! I love reading your posts and comments. You made me laugh as soon as I saw your "holy manoley." I still think you are a lot of fun... it's time for a GNO! I can't wait to see everyone again. It will probably be next Spring/Summer before we get back there.

Trina - that I laughed so hard at the picture of Jez with long hair that I nearly fell off my chair! I love that you posted all your pics from high school - I would never have thought you were so wild! And you were a dancer? That's very cool. Me on the other hand - I was in band. Not so cool, but I loved it. I'm going to dig out some of my old high school pictures and give you a turn to laugh at my "Mile High Bangs".

By the way, I didn't know you stamped - that's cool! I'm starting a card club and you could be in it if you want :) We can just mail cards back and forth. I so wish that I'd been more vocal about my GNO while you were here. I would have LOVED to have you come.

Amber... band is good. I play piano and tried violin once. :) I tried my sister's flute and it didn't work out so well... my brothers drums on the other hand... anyway... you HAVE to post the mile high bangs! I love those!! If I go back to middle school pics I had the flower bangs. (You know the ones that went up and down and if you could get them in a circle it was a good day!) :)

Sorry, but when I saw this post, I started to laugh. Every time a song came on, it made me realize how much we are alike. I remember how much I liked that music back in the day. I'm so glad that I can talk to you about everything. The Savior has blessed me with an awesome sister-in-law.
